For the past 15 years that I've been a DJ, I must brag that I've been pretty lucky enough to get to experience live sets from what most would consider ALL the top club DJs in the world. Riz's set was BEYOND twice as good as the 2nd best live performance I've ever seen--it was amazing! He was putting in so much work and only a DJ could truly appreciate it--cutting the tracks every few bars--into original samples--and currents--but not in an annoying way. Everything just made so much sense. For me, the most memorable part of the night was when he played an AM acapella loop and cut in Gang Starr "Full Clip" to make out "A.M. Rest In Peace".
Ok, let me get off his d*ck long enough to show you some pics.

You know it's going to be a legendary night when Evil One can't keep his shirt on (with DJ Morse Code). Seriously, Riz had the crowd bouncing off the walls... and from real hiphop joints!

Ran into Spair of the Oakland Faders (upper left), Spider & Megaman (middle), and randomly former DJcity employee JR (right). Tina T & Quickie (lower left) & Dainjazone w/his signature vintage Cazals.(right).

Evil One, myself, Ajax, Phenom, Megaman. Ajax from the Bay just posted a bunch of new current house edits on DJcity.

Awsome photography skills at work (left). If DJcity doesn't work out for me I'll become a nightclub photographer... moonlighting as a poker player. Hostility from DC (right).

Me and Steve1der. What the f*ck, right? Bunny in the club (sounds like a song by Hurricane Chris).

Crooked on the mic w/Riz (plus more of my amazing photography skills). And right, Crooked documenting the night for the Knyew Blog. Go there to see more pics from the event. He tried making Vegas clubbers look better by shooting in black and white I guess.

In Remembrance Of DJ AM...
The day after we attended an intimate dinner to remember DJ AM. The event was organized by Adam's good friend Shecky Green (co-founder of The Source magazine) and you can see the rest of the pics on Shecky's Facebook.
Here are a few of the pictures.

So many came to pay respect to Adam. Too many to name. Jazzy Jeff, Neva, Tina T, Phenom, Spider, Five, OB-One, Steve1der, Morse Code, Evil One, Justin Hoffman, Jon Shecter, Riz, Zimmie, Hyphy Crunk, Dainjazone, Mad Skillz, DJ Premier, Megaman, R.O.B., Scene and a bunch of others.

There were a few words spoken... really touching for those that knew Adam well. I have to say that I didn't know Adam personally as much as I should have... and I really regret it. I met him probably in 2003 and we were talking about pressing some mashups on vinyl. After that his career really started to blow up and I kind of kept my distance so as not to be one of the millions of DJs swinging from his nuts.
When we lose someone hopefully we realize not to take the people in our lives for granted. Adam was one of the most remarkable people I ever got to meet, and it's all my fault for going out of my way to avoid him ONLY because I didn't want people to think I was trying to kiss his ass or trying to further my career by being around him. I'm thankful for learning so much from him for the limited time that I knew him.

I don't know Justin Hoffman (Vegas club legend) personally, but I felt like I had known him for years after this night.

DJ AM Tribute Party - 9.1.2009 - Rain Nightclub - Las Vegas
Later DJcity hit up the Mixmaster Mike, Jazzy Jeff & DJ Premier party at Rain. I took a picture of the sign like any true fan would, but the funny thing is we had just eaten dinner with Jazzy Jeff and didn't even take any pictures with him. The night was dope and there were rumors going on of a Gang Starr reunion performance because Guru was in town.

Later we missed the Jazzy Jeff & DJ Premier 2x4 but luckily our boy Zimmie ditched us to get his VIP on and caught some of the Mixmaster Mike & Jazzy Jeff showcases on video for us.
