Mr. Choc Interview

Recorded live at DJcity on The MikiDz Show - Monday, November 23, 2009.

Dainjazone: Im curious to know, a lot of people are cutting their hair like Busta Rhymes...
Mr. Choc: Me and Lil Jon...we're standing strong!

Dainjazone: If you do, can we get a dread for The MikiDz Show?
Mr. Choc: Yeah.

Dainjazone: There it is! First question out the window.
Mikiwar: There is a Turntable U...

Mr. Choc: Yea it's an online DJ school.

Mikiwar: Are you heavily involved with that?
Mr. Choc: No not heavily. I just did a lesson. That's all.

Dainjazone: Just a one off?
Mr.Choc: Just a one off. Next question please (room laughs).

Dainjazone: Alright alright! It's going to be that kind of an interview.
Mikiwar: Hold on! Let me throw away all these questions I have (room laughs).

Mr. Choc: Haha no no! You can keep asking questions, but I just want to move on from that question.

Dainjazone: Touch on your projects with Muggs. You're doing Soul Assassins Radio. Do you have any project coming up? Production?
Mr. Choc: Production-wise, no. We're just doing the Soul Assassins Radio 'The West Wing'. We do that every Monday from 7-9 pm on XM 66, Shade 45. We just have good times doing it. Soul Assassins Radio has been around for 5-6 years now, but I officially got on board a year ago. I'm also doing an international mixshow for Sprite. I'll be playing with Big Lez. I'll be playing all over Africa. I'm still in the clubs, still staying busy; traveling, doing what I got to do. Still having fun, with my old ass! (room laughs)

Mikiwar: We haven't seen too many of your mixes...
Mr. Choc: You know what... I'm working on a mixtape right now man. My son and C-Minus's son have formed a production crew called The B.O.T.S. (Beats Of The Soul). They've been doing it now for the last 2 years. I'm getting heavily involved with their project. I have a mixtape I'm going to put out hopefully by the end of the
year. There's a couple mixes with me floating around. The Do Over mix is one of them.

Dainjazone: What was the last full on mixtape you did?
Mr. Choc: Wheeeew! Ummm... Chocolata Flavor Vol. 2. I was still at Power 106 when I did that mixtape. That was in 2004. I love to record and do all that, but just been busy in the club, rockin and doing all that. The mixtape before that was the Rawkus album "Sound Bombin 3". That was 2002. Got to hit the scene again.

Mikiwar: What is that one thing you have to travel with? Besides your snugy.
Mr. Choc: No, no snugies. That's real cult like (room laughs). I'm not doing the snugies and I'm not drinking the Kool-Aid. I'm cool with that! Ummm... PSP.

Mikiwar: What's the game?
Mr. Choc: Basketball. Any basketball game. I CAN'T BE SEEN. I'M LETTING EVERYBODY OUT THERE KNOW, RIGHT NOW! NBA 2K10! YOU CAN TAKE THE LAKERS! YOU CAN TAKE THE CELTICS! WHO EVER YOU NEED TO TAKE. All I need is the Phoenix Suns or the Denver Nuggets and you're going down. Promise!

Dainjazone: What is your favorite city to travel to?
Mr. Choc: You know everybody has the same favorite; Vegas, Miami, NY... ATLANTA! wheeew!

Dainjazone: Is Atlanta a mixed crowd?
Mr. Choc: It's a little bit of everything.

Mikiwar: What do you think of our New Moon poster?
Mr. Choc: I saw the archive video of who put that up. What up Stonerokk! You're a fool for this one! Im about to tear it down. It's actually my daughters favorite movie.

Dainjazone: Take it home to her.
Mr. Choc: NOOO! I ain't taking it home to her!

Mikiwar: We'll sign it.
Dainjazone: Put it in your living room.
Mikiwar: What's the latest record you're feelin that you don't get to play at the clubs?
Dainjazone: Or that track that makes you say 'fuck it! im going to play this. I don't care what they think!'

Mr. Choc: Umm that's a good question... ummm...

Dainjazone: GOT'EM!!! (room laughs)
Mr. Choc: Nah slow down son you didnt get me! Mayer Hawthorne. He's dope. I actually did a gig with him not to long ago. He's dope on the wheels! He's got a great selection of music and plays the funk. He's the truth! The name of the track is called "Just Ain't Working Out" (Choc proceeds to sing the track).

Dainjazone: We're going to let you get back in the mix...
Mr. Choc: I just wanted to say thanks for having me. It was a pleasure to rock with ya'll at the Scratch Academy and see you guys all grow. Now you guys have your own radio show, djing all over the world, SpinAddicts are definitely doing it big. I'm proud of all you guys for real. Give yourselves a round of applause.
