Stonerokk Interview on The MikiDz Show

Recorded live at DJcity on Monday, November 2, 2009.

MikiWar: How you feeling?
StoneRokk: I have no idea what the fuck I'm playing.

Miki: The best part is you're killing it!
SR: Noo! I fucked up a mix, one of the tables is off, I haven't even started painting yet... my game is off. Can I paint and talk at the same time?

Dainjazone: That's fine. Quickie said just don't get it on the mixer. Give our listeners an idea of how you came up, to the captains, to where you are today.
SR: Graham and I ran parallels for a lot of years, met each other through mutual friends and instantly fell in love. we have a lot in common such as pirates, history, military tactics, the Civil War Era, things like that.

Dainjazone: Who were your major influences coming up?
SR: I started djing when I was 13 and didn't start hanging out with djs until I was 18-19 years old because I was just doing it in my bedroom by myself. I would listen to the old tapes of when I thought I was so fly. Not so fly.

Miki: Are those tapes still around?
SR: Yes they are. We can sell them on DJcity.com.

Miki: We'll make it exclusive.
SR: Yea exclusive 1992 mixtapes by StoneRokk. Actually I wasn't StoneRokk back then. I was something really bad. I thought I was so fly. How much djing can you really do right after homework before bed? Not much.... Am I suppose to look at you after I talk?

Miki: No.
SR: You're making me uncomfortable.

Miki: Am I?
SR: Little bit... You guys like the poster I brought? [Full size image of Robert Pattinson of Twilight]

Miki: It's....lovely.
SR: I thought it was a great poster and I thought you guys should have it forever. I wanted to paint the room red but I cant paint the room red...am I wasting precious time talking to you assholes? Can I play records? Do you have more questions to ask me?

Miki: Going back to when you were this super fly 12-13 year old kid, if you weren't super fly, what would you be doing?
SR: There are 3 errors I made in my life; leaving college to pursue djing, not getting into real estate development instead of djing, and error # 3...I don't know if I can say it...lets just say Graham and I aligned ourselves with a certain someone that didn't do what he was supposed to do.....and his name is Quickie... haha [joking]

Miki: Phenom said you and Quickie have a funny story of how you guys met...
SR: How did we meet? Was it on the singles cruise?

Quickie: I think I saw you djing in a pink G- string...
SR: That's very possible. Am I wearing one now? I don't remember. That story isn't that good.

Dainjazone: What's your opinion on DJ Hero?
SR: When Guitar Hero came out, Slash, a famous guitarist, couldn't play it. He said, "Obviously this is not like the real thing because I can't play it." Obviously DJ Hero is not like the real thing because I can't do it. There it is!

Miki: Did he just compare himself to Slash?
SR: NO! I did not compare myself to Slash. I just...I used...I....fuck it...I'm Slash! I don't give a shit!
