Analog vs. Digital

A researcher in NY decided to put a vinyl record under the microscope, which resulted in some pretty cool pictures:

Some thoughts:
- I still find it amazing that a needle moving over a groove can make music.
- I have no opinion on the analog vs. digital debate, but I think it's pretty obvious why vinyl and CDs sound so different after looking at these pictures.
- I wonder what songs are on the record & CD.
