Now in stock and for sale at DJcity!
Main Feature #1: 4.0 gms of vertical tracking force to get 120 micrometers at 315Hz, and a new asymmetrical rubber suspension system.
What This Means: Supposed to stick to the groove like (or better than) a Shure M44-7
Main Feature #2: 10 mV output voltage at 1000 Hz, 5 cm/sec
What This Means: The signal is stronger than a Digitrack so your software picks it up better.
My Opinion: In the end, it's still a matter of personal choice what cartridge is going to work best for you. All needles these days are pretty darn good for digital DJing. You're not actually reproducing the sound for people to hear (like when playing records), you're just controlling the tone for your computer to read.
While these new cartridges do have the best upgraded specs of any needle of it's class, older products like the Digitrack & M44-7's still perform as solid as they claim to when they first came out. The main draw of the S-120s is to be the one with newest sh*t and have your DJ followers drooling over your shiny new Ortofon x Serato needles, and why not?
